This is the 30th Giro Rosa Iccrea
Immagine english news 2The new edition of the Giro Rosa Iccrea, the longest and most prestigious stage race of the Women's World Tour, has been officially presented in the morning of today, 8th March, Women's Day, in the theater of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo in Carate Brianza (Monza - Brianza). Directed by Giuseppe Rivolta, the race will take place from Friday, 5th July to Sunday, 14th July 2019.

Ten stages for 920.4 overall on the roads of the Regions Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto and Friuli - Venezia Giulia. The participating athletes will be 144 for 24 teams around the world which will fight for the five prestigious, special jerseys: Pink (ICCREA - General Classification), Green (Effebiquattro - Climbs Classification), Cyclamine (Selle SMP - Points Classification), White (KRU - Best Young rider) and Blue (Best Italian).

The Giro Rosa Iccrea (Cooperative Bank Group, the new main sponsor of the race), wil start in the afternoon of Friday, 5th July with a Team Time Trial between Cassano Spinola and Castellania for 18 kms overall and a uphill finish in the front of the Mausoleum of Fausto and Serse Coppi. The stage 2 will start and finish in Viù, near Turin. 78.3 kms and the initial climb of the Colle del Lis before the uphill finish. Sunday 7th July for another stage in Piedmont from Sagliano Micca to Piedicavallo (Biella) with a very tough mountain finish at 1049 m. The stage 4 seems to be the easier of the race, from Lissone to Carate Brianza (Monza & Brianza) for 100.1 kms and hilly roads. The queen stage will be on Tueday, 9th July, from Ponte in Valtellina to the legendary Passo Gavia (2652 m) after 100.7 kms and the climb of Carona after the start (1063 m).

Wednesday, 10th July is the day of the Individual Uphill Time Trial from Chiuro to Teglio (Sondrio) of 12.1 kms. The Stage 7 is near Vicenza, from Cornedo to San Giorgio di Perlena/Fara Vicentino), which includes the climbs of Monte di Malo, Fara Vicentino (twice) and the Rosina two times, already in the route of last year stage won my the former European Champion Marianne Vos. Friday 12th the riders will race from Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) to Maniago (Pordenone) for 133.3 kms with the climbs of Forcella di Pala Barzana (863 m) and Clauzetto (600 m). The penultimate stage goes from Gemona del Friuli to Chiusaforte/Malga Montasio after 125.5 insidious km and the uphill finish at 1546 m (average 8%, maximal slope 20%). The final stage is the San Vito al Tagliamento - Udine for 120 kms. The finish at the top of the Castle climb will crown the final winner.
