A phenomenal number by Marianne Vos at the uphill finish of Piancavallo (Biella), where she took on the finish line the Australian Lucy Kennedy (Mitchelton - Scott), who was almost sure about a stage win. Third place for the Danish Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Team Bigla). It's the 23rd stage win in career for the Dutch rider of the Team CCC-Liv.
The stage was characterized by the breakaway of the Slovenian National Champion Eugenia Bujak (BTC City Ljubljana), with a maximal gap of about 3 minutes. Her attack ended after the intermediate sprint in Biella, with the Lotto - Soudal Ladies leading the chase. Lately Tayler Wiles (Trek - Segafredo) attacked but the Team Bigla accelerated to take the American at less than 3 kms to go. Lucy Kennedy tried to do the decisive attack but Marianne Vos arrived to beat her right on the finish line.
Katarzyna Niewiadoma is still leading in Pink jersey the General Classification, with Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig in second place and Marianne Vos as third.
