The winner of the Giro Rosa Iccrea 2018 is the dominator of the Stage 5 of the 30th edition (Ponte in Valtellina - Valdidentro/Laghi di Cancano, 88.8 km). First she attacked solo to chase the breakaway of Nikola Noskova (Bigla) and Paulina Rooijakkers (CCC-Liv), who have been taken immediately. Her gap increased in the final kilometers and this permitted her to win the stage and take the Maglia Rosa, given by Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon - SRAM).
The stage was a "battle" since the first climb of the day, in Carona, where Marianne Vos lost the wheel of the group, then she could reach the peloton in the descend. A trio composed by Noskova, Rooijakkers and Kirchmann (Team Sunweb) attacked, and the Czech rider of Team Bigla tried to go solo. The canadian of Team Sunweb couldn't stay in the breakaway then arrived the decisive attack by Van Vleuten, who won with an average speed of 28.074 km/h. The peloton arrived after 2'57'' and Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb was second beating Niewiadoma and Soraya Paladin (Alé - Cipollini).
Tomorrow there is the Stage 6, an uphill time trial from Chiuro to Teglio for 12.1 kms (in attachment the Start Order).
